The Fly’s most memorable matches | Swift v Hustle 2024

49 goals in this absolute banger of a contest that set alight the action in London with a record number of scores, and a match that keep the crowd entertained right through to its final seconds.

Both teams came into the game undefeated at The Fly 2024, with two wins out of two and the contest was a straight up battle for the number 1 seed going into the semi-finals.

Swift had already been the competition’s high scorers, and the pattern continued into their final pool match against the reigning men’s champions, Hustle.

Swift raced out into the lead, and despite Hustle trying to keep pace, it was Swift who held a 13-9 advantage at the half and looked good for the win.

But Hustle’s defence stepped up after the break and in a game that was played at a constant high tempo with end-to-end non-stop chances, Hustle laid down a 7-3 third quarter to tie things heading into the fourth.

And the pace didn’t drop at all entering the final eight minutes, as the sides continued to trade blows before Swift finally opened up a two-goal lead heading into the final minutes.

However, Hustle bagged twice in the final minute of normal time to send things into a breathless overtime that had the fans on the edge of their seats watching.

Despite Hustle winning the OT face-off, Swift ‘keeper Davy saved from Joe Baythorpe’s effort to win it, and Baythorpe then put another wide after a turnover on Swift’s possession.

This time around, Coach Sitlani called a timeout for Swift’s next possession, and the ball was firmly placed in the stick of Dan Jones at the restart.

Jones had already led Swift in goals for the match (5) and he repaid his Coach’s faith with a solo effort from the restart that beat Cole Palmby in goal for Hustle and gave his Swift side the win in the highest scoring game in the history of The Fly.
